The rules it applies

  • Applies the practical lengths search results display (around 60 characters for titles, 155-160 for descriptions) and marks what would be cut.
  • Shows the desktop and mobile renderings side by side, because truncation points differ.
  • Everything is typed locally; nothing is sent anywhere.

Why this matters

Search results truncate titles and descriptions at lengths that differ by device and by query, so the practical lengths here are bands, not laws: around 60 characters for titles and 155 for descriptions. A snippet that is cut mid-sentence still sells the page if the first half carries the promise — check that half, not the character count alone.
